The library is excited to announce the inclusion of six diaries written by Rollin T. Chamberlin in the T.C. Chamberlin digital collection (https://www.beloit.edu/bcdc/tcchamberlin/).
Chamberlin penned these diaries during the 1909-1910 Oriental Educational Investigation Commission headed by his father, prominent geologist and Beloit alumnus T.C. Chamberlin. Consisting of over 1000 page images, these diaries provide valuable insights about the reactions of the commission members to early 20th century China. The diaries join over 700 photographs in the digital collection taken by the Chamberlins during the trip.
All of the diaries are full-text searchable and are accompanied by complete transcripts. To view the diaries, simply click on the BROWSE DIARIES BY ROLLIN T. CHAMBERLIN ONLY link at the collection homepage listed above. To see page transcripts while viewing a diary, select "page description" or "page & text" from the drop-down menu in the upper left corner of the screen. Also, look for links to related photographs from the broader collection on the "page description" screens.
Special thanks to John Burns, Liz Levy, and Peter Harrer for their invaluable contributions to this project.
If you have any questions or comments about the diaries or the T.C. Chamberlin digital collection of which they are a part, please email Josh Hickman, Digital Resources Librarian, at email@example.com.
