Wisconsin Private Colleges Initiative for Diversity Conference 2011
April 8th - 9th 2011
The Wisconsin Private Colleges Initiative for Diversity Conference originated at Carthage College in the fall of 2004. It was inspired by the vision of a Carthage graduate, Derrick Collins, who modeled the conference after the American Multicultural Student Leadership Conference, sponsored by the University of Wisconsin System.
The conference was hosted on the following campuses during the academic year:
2004-2005 Carthage College
2005-2006 Carthage College
2006-2007 Marquette University
2007-2008 Carroll College
2008-2009 Alverno College
2009-2010 St. Norbert College
The Wisconsin Private College Initiative for Diversity Conference will provide a collaborative forum in which students, faculty and staff can learn about differences, discuss diversity related issues, and create an action plan for their own campuses and communities.
To celebrate and utilize the individual achievements of Wisconsin's private colleges and universities, Beloit College has designated its theme for the 2011 WPCID Conference as "Constructive Communication through Collaborative Connections." With an emphasis on networking that illuminates those successes, we hope to give attendees tools, provide opportunity to exchange ideas, and create connections to take back to their respective campuses. Through interactive workshops, small group discussions, and shared knowledge serving as our foundation, individuals will gain an energized perspective on the most pressing issues facing higher education.
