What is Phonathon?
Phonathon is an annual program run by the Beloit Fund in the Office of External Affairs. We hire a team of students and train them to call alumni, parents, and friends of the College in order to build relationships and raise money for Beloit.
Why do students work for Phonathon?
Because they love Beloit and want to help it. They also realize that helping Beloit is helping themselves. Phonathon money raised supports initiatives that are important to students and to Beloit - great faculty, diverse social and cultural events, promising internships, research and off-campus study opportunities, and of course financial aid. Working the Phonathon gives students a chance to give something back to Beloit in a very tangible way, and to know that they are making a huge difference. It also allows students to make personal connections with Beloit alumni, giving them a chance to learn about; the College's past, hear first-hand accounts of stories and memories from their Beloit days, share common interests like athletics or the sciences, and maybe even network their way into an internship or job after graduation.
How successful is Phonathon?
During the fiscal year 2009-10 the phonathon students brought in $194,400 in gifts and pledges. Many Beloit alumni and parents consider the Phonathon as their preferred method of supporting the College. Thanks to everyone who answered the call!

When should you expect a call?
Phonathon calls are made September-November, and February-April on Sunday through Thursday evenings (calling ends by 8:45 p.m.). When you see "Beloit College" on your caller ID, please pick up the phone! Hard to reach on the phone? Do telemarketing laws apply to Phonathon?
No, because Beloit College is a non-profit organization. However, anyone who does not wish to receive a call is welcome to let us know by calling 800-331-4943 or e-mailing goldberg@beloit.edu.
