Beloit College Scholarships and Grants
The scholarships and grants which Beloit College students receive are supported through the generosity of alumni and friends of the College.
While full-time students may receive up to nine semesters of Beloit College need-based gift aid, merit-based awards are typically renewable up to four years - or eight semesters - total. Full-time enrollment is required to receive Beloit College need-based or merit-based gift aid.
Need-based Scholarships and Grants
Students applying for financial assistance from the College must file a FAFSA, a Beloit College Financial Aid Application, and other supporting documents as requested. The Financial Aid Office will review these documents, assess the student's demonstrated financial need, and determine the sources of funding for which the student is eligible. The student is then sent a financial aid award or "package". In the financial aid package, gift aid from the College will be identified as Beloit College Scholarships or Grants.
Students who receive Beloit College Scholarships and Grants may later be notified that their gift aid is supported through special, named scholarship funds, based on achievement or merit. Students who are recognized through donor support will be invited to the annual scholarship event and will be expected to write a letter of appreciation to the donor. It is the expressed hope of Beloit College donors that scholarship recipients will contribute to the College as alumni in order to perpetuate the funds available. Students must be making satisfactory academic progress in order to receive gift assistance.
In addition to need-based gift aid, Beloit College offers a number of merit-based scholarships. These awards are typically reserved for new, first-year students who meet certain criteria. Eligibility criteria and deadlines for consideration vary among the awards. With the exception of the World Affairs Center Scholarship, international students are not eligible for these awards.
The total amount students may receive in Beloit College merit aid is limited to $25,500 per year. Annual renewal of all merit scholarships requires students to be in "good academic standing."
