Reading/talk by Peter Filkins, poet and translator
Filkins has published three volumes of his own poetry: What She Knew (1998), After Homer (2002), and Augustine's Vision (2010), From the German, he has translated both the work of Austrian poet Ingeborg Bachmann and, more recently, the lyrical-surreal fiction of Czech novelist H. G. Adler. He'll read from his own work and will discuss Bachmann, Adler, and the challenges of translation.
