Learning Enrichment and Disabilities Services Responsibilities

The Learning Enrichment and Disability Services Office, in coordinating disability services for Beloit College students will:

  1. Determine appropriate academic adjustments and accommodations warranted by a student's documentation.
  2. Develop written policies and guidelines regarding procedures for determining and accessing "reasonable accommodations."
  3. Maintain confidential records of the student’s documented disability, Accommodation Verification Letters for each semester, academic progress information, and notes from meetings with the student.
  4. Assist students with disabilities with becoming self-advocates when appropriate.
  5. Provide assistance with learning strategies (e.g., attention and memory strategies, planning, self-monitoring, time management, organization, problem-solving).
  6. Meet with prospective students and their parents/guardians to discuss accommodations and services available at Beloit College.
  7. Establish and communicate rights and responsibilities with respect to service provisions for students with disabilities.
  8. Develop and implement the student disability services for Beloit College.
  9. Consult with faculty and staff regarding accommodations, compliance with legal responsibilities, as well as instructional, programmatic, physical, and curriculum modifications.
  10. Provide disability awareness activities for campus constituencies.
  11. Collect student feedback to measure satisfaction with disability services and to monitor use of disability services.
  12. NOT provide evaluation and/or testing for learning disabilities, mental or physical health disabilities.
