Integrating Community-Based Learning
Integrating community-based learning can sometimes be a challenge. One of the most common concerns is that it must be a major piece of any course in which it's included. Nothing could be further from the truth. Below are examples of successful community-based learning projects, organized by their students' developmental level, course content and student time required. Along with the write-ups, you'll find analysis of why they functioned well and how their high-functioning aspects can be abstracted.
Remember, not every class needs a service learning "Cadillac"; sometimes the best fit is a "bicycle." These examples should help you scale community-based learning to your course.

Examples of Community-Based Learning Courses
Note: Courses with community-based learning components may be offered only once, repeatedly, or as a part of only one section of a course with multiple sections. Focus of topics and projects, partnering community agencies, and offerings within schools and departments may be subject to change each semester. Please consult department advisors or faculty and current course listings for details on specific courses.
