Beloit and Beyond Bike tour takes on Stateline—on two wheels

July 29, 2013 at 12:00 am

If you’re disappointed that you missed out on joining the RAGBRAI team, don’t worry—you’ve still got a chance to get some serious bike-riding in before the summer ends. This weekend, in fact. That’s when the third annual Beloit and Beyond Bike Tour will take place, offering riders numerous options for touring the area on two wheels.

The free event (though commemorative swag is available for purchase) even, according to its website’s FAQ section, guarantees fun. The sole purpose is to get riders of all ages—family participation is encouraged—out and about on Beloit area bike trails. Nearly 10 routes, ranging in length from four miles to 100 miles (the so-called Full Century Loop), are suggested for the day’s events, with shuttles back to Beloit available from destinations like New Glarus, Brodhead, and the Welty Environmental Center.

Free registration will begin at 6:30 a.m. Saturday in downtown Beloit, behind the Beloit Bicycle Company at 110 W. Grand Ave. Not interested in riding, but want to help out? Volunteer opportunities are also available—learn more about routes, how to volunteer, and details at the Beloit and Beyond Bike Tour website.
