If you enjoyed the Beloit Relays last month, you’ll be happy to know there’s more track and field on the horizon: this weekend’s Midwest Conference Track and Field Championships.
Not only does Beloit host the meet only once every 10 years (or more), the event will be two or three times as big as the Relays, according to Terry Owens, Beloit’s sports information director.
“It features some of the best D-III track and field athletes in the nation,” he says. “It’s a quality competition.”
Ten colleges, including Beloit, will participate in the championships beginning Friday (May 10) at 12:30 p.m. The event, which will be held at Strong Stadium rain or shine, will continue on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
This year is the 91st men’s conference championships and the 35th women’s.
