Numerous Beloit College students took time out of their weekend to volunteer in last week’s Empty Bowl event, which took place Saturday, Feb. 23. The third annual fundraiser is modeled after an international event of the same name—more than a dozen area businesses offer, in total, dozens of varieties of soups, and decorative ceramic bowls are also often sold. The proceeds benefit Caritas, a local food pantry.
“Well I needed to do some volunteer work for a class and I knew that this was a really good event and a good cause, so I made sure to be here,” Derell Carter’15 told the Beloit Daily News.

Kate Parsons’13 snapped the pictures above and below, of various Beloit College volunteers hard at work during the event.
