February 19, 2014 at 5:56 pm

Kristy McNammer

Name: Kristy McClammer
Hometown:
Rockton, Ill.
Major/minor:
Business economics.

What brought me to Beloit: I was a Porter Scholar at Beloit my senior year of high school. The atmosphere at Beloit was very welcoming, and I loved that the professors were able to know their students well.

My favorite class so far, and why you should take it: Society and Culture! This class opened my eyes to so many things that I had never noticed going on in the world around me. It made me reevaluate the way I think about myself, other people, and different situations.

You may have seen me: At the Kappa Delta house, eating a Beloit bagel at Pearsons, or petting every random dog walking down the sidewalk.

How I got involved with the Beloit International Film Festival: I joined the BIFF team my first semester at Beloit after hearing about it from a friend. Being able to grow through my internship and take on new responsibilities have been really exciting for me and have given me a lot of self-confidence.

What the experience has taught me: That hard work pays off. We work hard all yearlong preparing for the festival, and when it finally happens, it is so great to meet all of the filmmakers and see them proud of their work.

The BIFF movie/event you shouldn't miss: Date America! This documentary is a hilarious take on online dating, and the filmmaker is at BIFF! I have recommended it to everyone.
