Beloit College Theatre production The Memorandum opens tonight, a take on the ways (both comical and anxiety-inducing) that language evolves.

Memorandum 2

Featuring Alen Keric, Aria Shannon, Owen Boardman, and Hannah McNamee, the production will run at 8 p.m. tonight (Nov. 14) tomorrow, (Friday, Nov. 15) and Saturday (Nov. 16) in the Neese theatre, and next weekend at the same time, from Nov. 21-23.

The theatre department is also offering a discounted rate for student groups of six or more, says director John Kaufmann. Those groups will receive a $2-per-person reduced ticket rate, as well as pre-show refreshments and presentations.

“Beloit students will connect to the comical ways that language is explored in the play,” Kaufmann says. “In their lifetimes, texting, spell-check, twitter and the Internet have really altered the way humans communicate. The play explores the absurd ways that politics and bureaucracy shape language, but the themes resonate strongly in today's high-tech world. So, please join us at the theatre to laugh at the absurdity of language. Or, as they say in Ptydepe: 'Rj Gnop Axejores!'"

Tickets are available at the door, or by calling the box office at ext. 2755 between 12:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
