You’ve got exactly one week until it’s time to look smart. Next Wednesday--Oct. 30--Beloit will host Advising Practicum 2013, a day dedicated to taking a close look at your academic and educational path.
Graduate School: What to Do When, Why your major doesn’t−and does−matter, Condoms, Bookmarks, and Gourds: How to Get Hands-On in the Beloit Community and Making the Most of Your Summer are just a few of the topics on the docket.
The day begins with first-year students participating in special advising sessions with their FYI seminar leaders and classmates, followed by concurrent workshops open to all students on topics ranging from “No Job is a Bad Job,” “Communicating the Value of your Liberal Arts Education to Employers,” and “Money Matters.” Sessions are led by professors, staff, and other students and alumni in panel-discussions, who can provide insight on their own paths.
The last half of the day is devoted to departmental sessions, which give students the opportunity to receive in-depth advising about specific programs and majors; many departments will also be hosting lunches.
