Yoram Bauman Ph.D., billed as “the world’s first and only stand-up economist” will perform on "Comedy, Economics and Climate Change” on Wednesday (Sept. 11) at 7 p.m. in Eaton Chapel.
As a graduate student, Bauman, an environmental economist, discovered his talent for standup comedy, and now uses his comedic powers to entertain and persuade. His Youtube video on the Ten Principles of Economics has 1.1 million views and counting. He has also been featured on PBS NewsHour in both funny and serious modes.
He is the co-author of The Cartoon Introduction to Microeconomics and The Cartoon Introduction to Macroeconomics, which have been translated into 10 different languages. Both books are now regularly adopted in college classrooms around the world.
In addition to his Wednesday night talk, Yoram will be visiting classes and meeting with students interested in economics, environmental issues, and in his experience as an entrepreneurial comedian. His visit is sponsored by the Coleman Foundation Chair in Economics, CELEB, the Department of Economics, and the Environmental Studies Program at Beloit College.
