Okay, yes, it’s cold. But why not try to enjoy it? The city of Beloit is hosting its annual Winterfest celebration this weekend, starting Friday (Jan. 25) afternoon and running through Sunday. If you’re not from Wisconsin and want a chance to savor some winter entertainment while you can (ever ice skated? It’s free Friday night with the donation of a nonperishable food item) or just want to get off campus for a bit, or find something for your entire family to do on a weekend afternoon, there’s quite a bit planned.
While some of the events are more snow-centric and a quick glimpse outside shows quite a bit of green ground as of Thursday afternoon, organizers assure that most events are adaptable. And with temperatures hovering around zero all week, it definitely still feels wintry.
To see a full listing of events—everything from ice-skating to sleigh rides to euchre tournaments and roller derby—check out the Visit Beloit website. Each Winterfest event in their calendar listing is tagged as such.
