Before break, a call went out for submissions to an essay contest, with entrants focusing on the significance of Dr. King’s words, actions, and sacrifices—then and now.
The winners of the contest, which had about 10 entries, are as follows:
First place: Kaavya Parsa'15
"Once Upon a Time: The Legend and Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr."
Second place: co-authors Sudan Garner and Catherine Cochran
Third place (tie):
"While the World Watches"
"Our Voices Need to be Heard"
Parsa will read her essay at Monday’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Convocation taking place from 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. in Eaton Chapel. The other winners will be recognized during convocation.
