From your inbox: A note from Phys. Plant on air conditioning

March 25, 2012 at 6:59 pm

Mother Nature is teasing us with this gorgeous weather. As much as we may enjoy it, the likelihood of it lasting is very slim. Remember: it’s March and Wisconsin weather is known to fluctuate in temperature well into April, and sometimes May. With this in mind, we will not be turning on any air conditioning on campus until we can be sure the warm weather will stay consistent. The systems make it difficult to toggle between heat and cool so if the cooling were to be turned on it would be very difficult to return to heat.

This weather is very unusual and may cause some discomfort but please be patient as you will thank us when the weather turns cold and you are looking for heat. Unfortunately, we have no control over Mother Nature and she loves to keep us guessing. We will continue to monitor the weather and make as much mechanical adjustments as necessary to keep it cool.

Feel free to open windows and remember to close them in case of inclement weather. Buildings still have their circulating fans running to keep the air moving and this will help.
