Name: Emily Peterson.
Hometown: Denver, Colo.
What are you involved in on campus? Yoga Club, the Women's Center, and keeping the Physics TAs busy with my incessant questions. I'm also co-teaching an academic course (it's a writing credit) with Chuck Lewis called, Writing Yoga Practice.
What gets you up in the morning? My alarm! Coffee, a good reggae song, and a shower.
If you could be reincarnated, what person/thing would you like to be? Maybe a tiger. I like the way cats move, and I'd actually be able to run, for once in my life.
If you were auditioning for American Idol, what song would you sing? Anything by Natalie Merchant. Probably "Kind and Generous." Or "People Get Ready," like the Eva Cassidy version. Those are nice songs.
Which talent would you most like to have? The ability to fall asleep instantly when I need to and to always wake up bright-eyed and bushy tailed. I'm not sure when sleep became such a luxury, ha ha.
What's your favorite yoga pose? It always changes...right now I'm really into heart-openers like Ustrasana (camel pose) and Urdhva Dhanurasana (wheel pose). I've always loved Natarajasana (dancer pose). Though, there's nothing like your basic downard-facing dog. As yogis say, a down-dog a day keeps the troubles away.
