Today marks the first of four Talk about Teaching discussions centered around the liberal arts in practice. Faculty and staff are invited to attend a discussion of “Community-Based Learning: Practice and Paradox” from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. today (Wednesday) in the Weeks Lounge of Pearsons Hall. The talk will be led by Carol Wickersham, director of community-based learning.
This discussion will offer an opportunity to consider the philosophy and pedagogy of introducing students into a community as a learning environment. Consideration will be given to how to help students ethically and effectively interface with a community and how to begin to tailor assignments to fit students' abilities and disciplinary learning goals.
Please bring your lunch. Dessert and ice water will be provided.
