MUSEUM MONDAYS: Seeking art from campus and community alike

March 27, 2011 at 6:47 pm

Have you heard of the Beloit and Vicinity Juried Art Exhibition?

This 54-year-old Beloit tradition draws submissions from talented artists from Wisconsin and surrounding states, but also right here on campus. Paintings, sculpture, prints, drawings, textiles, performance pieces, and photographs are all accepted.

Beloit Students and faculty are encouraged to submit artwork for this year's show, and as an added incentive to attract younger artists, submissions from students cost only $5 per entry rather than the normal $10. Online entries are due by Sunday (April 3).

This year's judges are Darryl Jensen, of the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, and John Riepenhoff of The Green Gallery in Milwaukee. These judges determine which pieces will be included in the show, as well as the first, second, and third place winners. The winner of the Juror's Award is given the opportunity to hold a gallery show the following year at the Wright Museum. In addition, a People's Choice award is presented at the opening of the exhibition. That artist's work will appear on the front cover of the catalog the following year.

So! Submit your work online, and if you need more information, contact Craig Hadley at ext. 2095 or hadleyc@beloit.edu.
