Meet: new Sustainability Coordinator Lindsay Chapman

January 27, 2014 at 7:52 am

Lindsay Chapman 2

Name: Lindsay Chapman
Occupation:
Sustainability coordinator.
Hometown:
Bend, Ore.

What brought me to Beloit: My husband, Nick Chapman, landed the head women's soccer coaching position at Beloit College this summer. We've always enjoyed coaching together, but never have had the opportunity to do so at the collegiate level. I became his assistant coach once we sold our house in Connecticut and I moved to Beloit at the end of August.

You may have seen me: On the soccer field or examining the contents of your recycling bin.

What are you working on? Developing a sustainability plan for the college and providing the impetus for sustainability projects and opportunities on and off campus.

What’s on your desert island jukebox? Dave Brubeck Quartet, Joy Kills Sorrow, the Lumineers, and the Dixie Chicks.

What’s on your bucket list? Publish a work (musical or literary), compete in a triathalon, see Machu Picchu, visit White Island in New Zealand, and try to savor moments for what they have to offer and not what I think they should offer.

Favorite meal? Can't go wrong with the basics--New York-style cheese pizza with a side salad.

Any advice? You don't have to be brilliant at your job to be successful; you just have to be hardworking.

What do you do in your free time? Ski, run (but not from the crime scene), bicycle, hike, go camping, play soccer, learn guitar, piano and alto sax, and attempt culinary works of art.

What do you wish you did in your free time? Saved the world like Captain Planet but with an individual special power like Spiderman.

What gets you up in the morning? My two cats that take turns running across my body.

What’s your favorite hidden gem here in the area? The Beloit Auction is an interesting place.
