Name: Abigail Bohstedt’13
Major: Sociology major, history minor.
Hometown: Grinnell, Iowa.
You may have seen me: Giving tours around campus, hanging around Phi Psi, in MI, or maybe you’ve heard me yelling to my friends.
Favorite class? I have had so many wonderful classes from a variety of departments! However, if I had to choose I would choose Social Stratification with Charles Westerberg. He is such an amazing professor who really helped me look at the stratification of our society in a different, more sociological perspective. I have really enjoyed all of my sociology classes though so if you haven't taken one, do it.
What are a few of your favorite things? ZEBRAS, scrapbooking, Disney princesses, Maddie (my laptop), my dog Shelby, books, music, peanut butter M&Ms, traveling.
Favorite meal? Hamballs. They are so delicious, but I think they are an Iowa thing as nobody around here has ever heard of them.
What can’t you live without? Music.
Any advice? Definitely study abroad! I was abroad last semester in Turkey and it was such an amazing experience. Also get involved on campus. You meet so many wonderful people, and it is really fun.
Proudest moment? When I was in Turkey and was able to communicate in Turkish to the bread-stand guy. It seems like such a little thing, but I felt as though I had finally integrated into the society. Also, when my mom received her master’s in library science this year. She worked so hard, and I am so very proud of her.
