Daniel 1

Name: Daniel Corral’15

Hometown/residence: Chicago.

Major(s): Education and youth studies, history.

You may have seen me: In the field house taking some swings or hanging out at Sigma Chi.

What are a few of your favorite things? I love playing baseball. It was one of my main reasons to come here, along with Beloit’s high academic reputation. I’m glad to continue playing in college since few players from Chicago get that opportunity. Also, I love hip-hop. Being from Chicago, I always listen to some Kanye, Common, or Lupe. That usually brightens up my day or motivates me through a workout.

What three items go in your desert island backpack? My baseball glove and ball, an iPod full of Kanye West, and any history book.

Favorite meal? My favorite meal is probably my grandma’s tamales. They only come around during winter.

Any advice? If you put in the time and effort and don’t see results right away, be patient. Patience is the key to success.

What do you do in your free time? When I’m not working on school work, I’m either in the gym or hanging out with some buddies.

What gets you up in the morning? When I get up in the morning and want to hit the snooze button, I remind myself why the alarm was set in the first place. There’s a reason why I’m in college, to get a good education and dedication is way to obtain that.

Who are your heroes? My heroes are probably my parents. Ever since I can remember they have always been supportive of what I wanted to do and do the best to provide for me. If it was not for them, I may not have the same motivation that drives me daily.

Beatles or Stones? Beatles all the way, nothing gets me more pumped.

Proudest moment? The proudest moment has been being selected to the first All-City Team for baseball my senior year of high school. I got the opportunity to play at the U.S. Cellular field, home of the Chicago White Sox, and represent my team. It was an honor since few ever get the chance to step on and play on a major league. And the fact that I was representing my school team, which I worked so hard for, was ever more satisfying.

What are you most looking forward to? I’m looking forward to my next three years at Beloit. The friendships and memories I have made here in only one year is incredible. I can’t begin to think what other great experiences will go down the rest of time here.
