MEET: Ashley Schmal’14

They’re students, artists, and athletes, showing prowess in the pool or on the court, but also in putting paint to canvas or sketch pencil to paper. The Terrarium is getting to know  these artistic athletes. Or is it athletic artists? In any case, well-rounded Beloiters, whose work is on display now in Artletics at the Wright Museum of Art.

Hometown/residence: Cedar Lake, Ind.
Major: Undecided, but most likely Molecular, Cellular, and Integrative Biology
Sport(s)/postions: Forward in women’s soccer, second-base and shortstop in softball.
How would you describe your art, and what are you showing in the Artletics show? I’m showing two linoleum prints, and I’d describe them as simple, black and white.
What are a few of your favorite things? My photo album, soccer ball, books
Favorite meal? Steak and mushrooms with hash browns and mint chocolate chip ice cream
What can’t you live without? Animals, especially my pets
What do you do in your free time? Play soccer, draw, listen to music, read
