Dressing to Express, and Impress

Date: Thursday, March 7th, 2013

Time: 2:30 pm

Duration: 1 hour

Location: Wood Room, Mayer Hall

Contact: rheadl@beloit.edu, Contact: Lori Rhead 363-2630

Does dress matter on a college campus where students' attire ranges from hip and cool to silly and outrageous? Absolutely.

And can we, as professional staff, model best practices for our students while simultaneously (and sensibly) showcasing our professionalism for the more than 2,000 visitors to campus each year? We think so.

With that in mind, next week HR and the Admissions Office is hosting a “Dressing to Impress” workshop for our staffs and yours. We hope you’ll consider joining us… and that you’ll bring the lessons of this session back to your office, your colleagues, and your student workers. Kimberly Gomez, owner and consultant from Impeccable Image LLC, will be on campus to offer insights on business casual dress on campus and beyond.  Kimberly’s work takes her to organizations of all kinds and she’s ready to bring advice and style tips that are fun, cost effective (using your own wardrobe), and respecting of individual styles and needs. The presentation is not to promote a dress code or suggest a corporate image; it is meant to provide a lighthearted but thoughtful overview of how we represent Beloit College to our prospective and current students, families, alumni and friends.  We hope you’ll attend.

Times and location are listed below.  Sign up in the Google doc here by noon on Monday, March 4: https://docs.google.com/a/beloit.edu/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AsusbxLkfDWmdGFzOVNlckVYVnM1cjRkQi1kczlqb2c#gid=0 . (You must link from your beloit.eduaccount.)

This event is free and open to the campus community.
