Join Beloit College and special guest Nancy Chappell, a Peruvian photo-journalist for a public lecture and exhibit opening Yuyanapaq: To Remember in the Wright Musuem of Art.  Produced by the Peruvian Truth and Reconciliation Commission, this traveling exhibit chronicles the political violence that left 69,000 dead in Peru between 1980 and 2000 when the Shining Path insurgency waged war against the state. The exhiibt also pays tribute to the resistance of ordinary Peruvians to violence and their commitment to restoring democracy. To remember means "Yayanapaq" in Quechua. Ms. Chappel's work is included in the art exhibit.  This exhibit can be viewed in the South Gallery of the Wright Museum of Art from February 7 through March 3, 2013.

This public lecture and exhibit opening is free and open to the campus and community.
