Sari Suryanarayanan, Ph.D. and postdoctoral researcher at UW-Madison, will be giving a talk titled: "Vanishing Bees and the Politics of Knowledge."

The talk will explore:

How do historically influenced relationships between entomologists, honey bee scientists,, regulators, and beekeepers affect what we (don't) know about Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD)--a perplexing phenomenon of widespread honey bee deaths?  How does the accepted knowledge stand to affect the lives of various stakeholders?  My presentation explores these questions in the context of a controversy over the role of certain insecticides in CCD.
