To celebrate the nation's first-ever Food Day, Beloit College is hosting a three-person panel discussion comprised of:
Pat Beckemeyer, a nutritionist with the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children, who will talk about making healthy food choices, especially on a tight budget
David Cleverdon, a local organic farmer who will talk about the challenges of growing and marketing healthy foods
Peter Kraemer, Director of Beloit College Food Service, who will discuss the challenges of providing healthy eating options that include local foods.
These events will help address two of Food Day's priorities:
*Support sustainable family farms and reform the subsidization of huge agribusiness
*Reduce obesity and diet-related disease by promoting healthy foods.
