Rockford, IL -- The Beloit College Women's Tennis team split a pair of matches on Saturday as they opened play in the MWC North Division, topping Ripon College 7-2 before falling to Lawrence University 6-3.
The matches were played at the Boylan High School Tennis Center in Rockford due to the weather.
Against Ripon, the Bucs swept through Doubles play to grab a 3-0 lead heading into Singles.
In Singles, Beloit got wins from Julia Win (#2), Taylor Jones (#3), Emma Beck (#4) and Ashley Miglin (#6) to win going away.
Against Lawrence, the Buccaneers jumped out to a 2-1 lead in Doubles with wins from Win and Alex Hinck at #2 and Lily Rubenstein and Miglin at #3.
But Lawrence took five of the six Singles matches, with the lone Buccaneer win coming from Miglin at #6.
The Bucs host UW-Stevens Point in a non-conference match on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. at the Strong Complex Tennis Courts. Should the weather turn, the match will be played at Boylan.
