Madison, WI -- Senior Erika Zevin became just the fifth player in Midwest Conference Women's Tennis history, and the second Buccaneer, to win three MWC Singles Championships as the MWC's Women's Tennis Championship Weekend came to a close at the Nielsen Tennis Center in Madison on Sunday.
Zevin equalled the accomplishment of former Beloit player Julie Zebedeva, who won her three titles from 2000 through 2002. Zevin won the #3 Singles crown in 2006, won at #2 Singles in 2007 and repeated her #2 title in her final match as a Buc.
Julia Win was the #3 Singles runner-up while Emma Beck also earned runner-up honors at #5 Singles.
Back on Saturday in the MWC Doubles Tournament, Zevin and co-senior Hannah Perwin finished as runner-ups at #1 Doubles for the third straight season. The #2 duo of Taylor Jones and Beck battled back from an opening loss to take the Consolation title.
As a team, Beloit was named the 2009 Team Sportsmanship Winner.
