Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Tennis team sewed up the #1 seed in the Midwest Conference North Division on Sunday morning with a 7-2 win over St. Norbert College at the Strong Complex Tennis Courts.
Sunday afternoon the Bucs dropped a 6-3 decision to #1 South Division seed Grinnell College.
Against SNC, the Buccaneers took two of the three Doubles points, winning at #1 (Hannah Perwin/Erika Zevin) and #2 (Taylor Jones/Emma Beck) before winning five of the six Singles points to put the match away.
Singles winners were Perwin at #1, Zevin at #2, Julia Win at #3, Jones at #4 and Ashley Miglin at #6.
The win gave Beloit a 4-0 mark in the Northern Division.
Against Grinnell, Perwin and Zevin won at #1 Doubles and then both won at #1 and #2 Singles, respectively, for Beloit's points.
The Grinnell match was the last at home for Perwin and Zevin, the only seniors on the 2009 squad.
The Buccaneers play a pair of road matches next Saturday to close out the regular season, playing at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, at 10:00 a.m. and then at Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois, at 2:00 p.m.
The MWC Women's Tennis Team Tournament will be played at the Boylan High School Tennis Center on Friday, October 16.
