Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Lacrosse team was determined to get back in the winning column and they hit that goal in a big way Wednesday night at Strong Stadium with a 20-2 win over the University of Dubuque.
The Bucs scored six times in the first eight-plus minutes of the game, with two goals going to Sarah Pipal. After the Spartans got on the board at the 20:06 mark Beloit got two more before UD made it 8-2 at 14:42. That was all the scoring they'd get as the Buccaneers close the half with five more scores to take a 13-2 lead into the break.
Pipal had all three of her goals in the first half while Erin Chambers added three more with three assists. Ellie Daniels had two goals in the half, as did Sara Fithian and Cate Rubin.
The second half was dominated by the Buccaneers as they allowed no shots on goal and only two shots total. Fithian had three of the seven goals in the half while Chambers added two more. Marcail Distante also scored and Andreina Patilliet closed out the scoring with her first career goal with 2:27 remaining.
Chambers finished with five goals and four assists while Fithian also had five scores with two assists. Michelle Dillon made two saves in goal for the win.
The Bucs get back into Midwest Women's Lacrosse play on Sunday at Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois. The action begins at 2:00 p.m.
