Grinnell, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team kept their momentum going on Saturday with a 77-51 win at Grinnell College, the squad's second straight victory.
Beloit jumped out to a 14-5 lead five minutes into the game but the Pioneers went on a 9-0 run over the next three minutes to tie it at 14 with 12:41 left in the half. It was tied 20-20 with eight minutes remaining when the Buccaneers took control with a 19-5 run to end the half with 39-25 lead.
The Buccaneers got their lead up to 16 early in the second half but GC chipped away and got the deficit down to nine points several times, the last with 7:55 left. Beloit secured the win over the next four minutes with a big 17-0 run to move up 73-47 with 3:27 remaining. They coasted the rest of the way.
Lana Wieseman scored 20 points with eight rebounds to lead the way while Lauren McNanna had 17 points and five assists. Laura Panicali added 14 points and Nora Polaski 11. Megan McCabe recorded career highs with nine rebounds and four assists.
Next up for the Bucs is the "Play for the Cure" game against Lawrence University on Wednesday night in Flood Arena. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m.
