Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team couldn't overcome the turnover bug on Tuesday night in Flood Arena. And the result was a 77-58 MWC-opening loss to Ripon College.
The game was close early until RC went on a 9-0 run to make it 22-10 at the 9:29 mark. Beloit battled back and pulled to within four 3:17 before halftime but the Red Hawks closed the half on a 9-1 run to lead 35-23 at the break.
Ripon looked like they would seal the outcome coming out of halftime, going on a 14-4 run in the first six minutes to push their advantage to 20 at 49-29. But the Buccaneers weren't quite through yet and cut the lead to 54-46 with a 17-5 run of their own. RC regained control with a 13-2 spurt and eased in for the win.
Lauren McNanna got hot in the second half from three-point and led the way with 20 points, including six three-pointers. Lana Wieseman finished with a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Beloit had 27 turnovers while shooting just 34% from the field.
The Buccaneers look to get that elusive win on Saturday when they host Grinnell College in Flood. Action begins at 3:00 p.m.
