Buccaneers Shake Offensive Problems but Drop Shootout at Knox

Galesburg, IL -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team put their recent offensive woes behind them on Saturday but a comeback by Knox College led to a 100-90 Midwest Conference road loss.

The Bucs jumped on top 11-5 less than four minutes into the game but the Prairie Fire came back to tie it at 13-all less than two minutes later.  The teams traded 8-0 runs over the next four minutes to remain even before Beloit went on a 22-7 run over seven minutes to lead 43-28 at the 3:09 mark.  KC closed the half with an 11-5 run and the Buccaneers led 48-39 at the break.

Beloit continued to hold their lead in the second half, peaking with a 16-point advantage at 69-53 with 13:49 left.  Knox then went on an eight-minute 22-6 run to tie the game at 75 with 6:37 remaining.  KC took their first lead since the early going with 4:28 left and built it up to the ten-point final margin.

Lauren McNanna had a career-high 30 points in the contest.  Lana Wieseman had a double-double with 25 points and 13 rebounds, both career highs, while Claire Bush added 13 points.  Beloit shot 50% for the game (37-74) but Knox made 12 three-pointers (12-43) to the Bucs' 0 (0-4) for a 36-point difference.

The Buccaneers have a short turnaround with the next game coming Tuesday night in Flood Arena against Lake Forest College.  Tipoff is at 5:30 p.m.
