Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team got their 2012-13 season off on the right foot Thursday night in Flood Arena with a 78-66 win over stateline foe Rockford College.
Lauren McNanna's career-high 28 points fueled the win for Beloit. She added four assists, five steals and six rebounds. Kandace Fox added 11 points for the Bucs. Jenna Larsen had a career-best 14 rebounds to go with her eight points and six assists and Maddie Sychta added a career-high ten rebounds. Claire Bush had nine points.
The Regents broke up a tight game in the first half when they moved up 31-22 with 4:19 left before the break. But the Buccaneers closed the half on a 9-0 run to tie it at 31-all. After Rockford grabbed a 35-33 lead less than two minutes into the second half Beloit went on a 16-5 run to take control. RC pulled back within one at 57-56 with 7:30 left but the Bucs again pushed away, going on a 19-5 run over the next six minutes to seal it.
Beloit shot 57.1% in the second half after shooting 33.3 in the opening 20 minutes.
The Buccaneers now have a day before hosting Concordia University Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon in Flood. Tipoff is at 2:00 p.m.
