Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team closed out their 2011-12 season on Saturday afternoon in Flood Arena with an 83-67 loss to Ripon College. It was Senior Day as five Buccaneers - Faith Jones, Kirstin Acosta, Kandace Fox, MacKenzie Hilliard and Sarah Stariha - played their final game with Beloit.
The game was close through the first seven minutes until RC turned a one-point lead into a 17-point advantage at 30-13 with 6:31 left with a 21-5 run. But the Buccaneers kept fighting and got back within three late in the half. Ripon led 38-31 at the break.
Ten unanswered points to open the second half reestablished the 17-point bulge less than five minutes after halftime. The deficit got as high as 25 points with five left before Beloit closed the game with a 16-7 run for the final score.
Lauren McNanna led the way with 19 points, including 13-13 from the free throw stripe, while Jones added 11. Acosta added nine points and Fox and Hilliard five each.
