Early Drought Does in Bucs at Grinnell

Grinnell, IA -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball had problems scoring early in the game, leading to a 67-39 loss at Grinnell College on Friday night.

After Lauren McNanna hit a three-pointer at the 17:54 mark of the opening half the Buccaneers missed their next 14 shots while Grinnell scored 17 unanswered points to build a big lead midway through the half.  Kandace Fox's layup at 10:35 broke the scoreless string.

GC kept pushing their advantage higher and led 38-13 at the break.  Beloit shot just 18.8% (6-32) in the first 20 minutes.

The Pioneers went up by 30 less than two minutes into the second half and grabbed their biggest lead with 13:04 left at 54-16.  Grinnell never led by less than until the final 30 seconds of the game.

McNanna and Faith Jones both scored seven points to lead the Buccaneers while Kirstin Acosta and Maddie Sychta each had six.

Beloit heads back into Illinois for a 1:00 p.m. game at Knox College on Saturday afternoon.
