Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team came from behind but in the end high-scoring Knox College retook control in a 102-82 loss in Flood Arena on Friday night.
The Prairie Fire jumped out early, pushing their lead to seven points less than five minutes in and ten at 21-11 at the 13:09 mark. The Bucs could get no closer than five - at 38-33 with four minutes left - and KC led 48-42 at the half.
Beloit shot 51.4% (18-35) in the opening half.
Beloit kept chipping away at the deficit in the second half and took their first lead since three-minutes into the game at 54-53 on a free throw by Claire Bush with 15:21 left. But a 9-0 run by Knox in the following minute got their lead back up to eight.
The Buccaneers were still within four at 65-59 with just over ten minutes left before the Prairie Fire went on a game-changing 14-3 run over the next five minutes to lead 83-68 with just under six minutes left. The Bucs never got closer than 12 the rest of the contest. KC's bigesst lead came with 27 seconds left at 102-80.
Faith Jones tied a career-high with 20 points to lead the Bucs. Sarah Stariha and Kandace Fox each scored 16 and Lauren McNanna ten. Fox also grabbed a career-high ten rebounds for a double-double while McNanna grabbed a career-high eight boards.
Beloit turns right around with another Midwest Conference game on Saturday when they host Lake Forest College at 2:00 p.m. in Flood Arena.
