Kenosha, WI -- The Beloit Women's Basketball team ran into one of the top teams in Division III on Monday night and the result was a 78-49 win by Carthage College.
The Lady Reds scored the first 15 points of the game before Sarah Stariha got the Bucs on the board with a layin at the 13:44 mark. CC led 23-2 with 12:34 left but Beloit pulled back to within 27-10 at 8:36. Carthage then closed the half on a 23-4 run to lead 50-14 at the break.
Carthage got their largest margin - 40 points - at the 18:24 mark of the second half when they led 54-14. They kept their lead in the 30's for most of the rest of the game. The final score was as close as the Buccaneers got.
Kandace Fox had 16 to lead Beloit. Lauren McNanna and Stariha added eight each. Kirstin Acosta grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds.
The game was the last for the Bucs before finals and the Holidays and their final non-conference game of the season. They return to action on January 5 when they take on Grinnell College in Flood Arena to begin a four-game homestand.
