Jacksonville, IL -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team couldn't recover from a game-changing first half run and fell at Illinois College 73-58 on Saturday afternoon.
IC scored the first nine points of the game but the Bucs answered with a 14-2 run to take a 14-11 lead nine minutes into the game. But the Lady Blues had their answer with a 17-2 explosion of the next six-plus minutes to go up 28-16 at the 4:48 mark. Beloit trailed 33-24 at the break.
The deficit remained at around that point until Illinois College used a quick 6-0 run midway through the second half to move up 49-35. The Buccaneers got it back down within eight several times in the final six minutes but could get no closer.
Kandace Fox led the attack with 15 points while MacKenzie Hilliard also hit for double figures with 12.
The Bucs have a couple of days to regroup before heading to St. Norbert College in De Pere on Wednesday night. Tipoff is at 5:00 p.m.
