Ripon, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team has been picked to finish eighth by Midwest Conference coaches in the MWC Pre-Season Poll, released by the Conference Office this afternoon.
Defending Champion St. Norbert College received eight of the ten first-place votes to lead the poll. Monmouth College, with one first-place vote, was picked second while Lake Forest College was third. Carroll University came in fourth followed by Ripon College, who received the final first-place vote, in fifth.
Rounding out the poll was Illinois College in sixth, Grinnell College in seventh followed by the Bucs, Knox College in ninth and Lawrence University tenth.
First-year coach Jennifer Randall is set to lead the Buccaneers into the 2011-12 season with 11 letterwinners back, including four players who were in a majority of last season's starting line-ups. Beloit finished 8-15 overall, 6-12 in MWC play in 2010-11.
The Bucs open their season on Tuesday, November 15, against Concordia University of Wisconsin in Flood Arena. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. The Conference opener will be at Lake Forest College on Sunday, November 27.
