Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team is hitting its stride as they continue in the latter half of their schedule, winning their second straight Midwest Conference game, and third of four, with a 54-42 win over Ripon College in Flood Arena on Wednesday night.
The Buccaneers have three of four overall.
The opening half was tight until Beloit put together a 12-5 run midway through to turn a one-point deficit into a 22-16 lead with 7:53 left. But Ripon closed the half on an 11-2 run to take a 27-24 advantage into the lockerroom.
The Bucs came out ready in the second half. Trailing 31-30 five minutes in, they went on an 8-0 run to build a 38-31 lead at the midway point and never looked back. The Red Hawks got as close as five with 7:41 remaining but that was it as Beloit built its lead to double figures with 2:57 left and coasted home.
Kandace Fox had 15 points, nine in the first half, while Lauren McNanna scored 13, including a 10-12 effort from the free throw line. Sarah Stariha added eight points and Amanda Moore seven points and a game-high eight rebounds.
The Bucs have some time off before hitting the road for four straight MWC games, beginning next Tuesday night at Carroll University in Waukesha. Tipoff is at 5:30 p.m.
