Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team needed something to shake off the results of the night before. They got it with a 77-67 win over Knox College in Flood Arena on Saturday afternoon, their second win in three Midwest Conference games.
Knox jumped out of the game and built a seven-point advantage just over five minutes in. But Beloit responded with a 7-0 run to tie it at 11-all with 9:53 left. KC again grabbed the lead before the Bucs put together a 16-2 run over the next five minutes to take a 12-point lead with 3:35 left before the break. But the Prairie Fire mounted their own comeback in the final minutes of the half, closing on a 12-2 run to make it 31-29 at halftime, Beloit.
The Buccaneers expanded on their lead to open the second half, pushing back out to a nine-point advantage four minutes in. KC got within six with 11:26 left but Beloit got the lead back out to double figures. The Prairie Fire again pulled to within six with 48 seconds left but the Bucs hit nine of ten free throws in the final minute to seal the win.
Amanda Moore paced the Buccaneers with 18 points, including 5-5 from three-point territory. Kandace Fox had 12 points and Faith Jones 11. Both Jones and Lauren McNanna went 6-7 from the free throw line.
Beloit looks to continue their roll on Wednesday night when they host Ripon College in a 5:30 p.m. game in The Flood.
