Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team just couldn't buy a basket and the result was a 63-43 loss to Grinnell College in Flood Arena on Friday night.
Beloit shot just 30.2% (13-43) from the field for the game, including 26.3% in the opening half. Grinnell wasn't much better at 36.2% (21-58) but it was more than enough for the win.
The Buccaneers started well, leading by as many as four in the opening five minutes. But a 17-5 run that stretched eight-plus minutes put GC up 32-21 at the break.
The Pioneers opened the second half with a 9-5 run in the first five minutes to go up 15 and then, with Beloit within 12 at 41-29 with 12:43 left, went on a 12-3 run over the next five minutes to push their lead to 21 with 7:11 remaining. The Bucs never got closer than 17 the rest of the way.
Amanda Moore led the Bucs with 14 points, the only Buccaneer in double figures, including four three-pointers.
Beloit looks to get back on the good side on Saturday afternoon when they host Knox College in a 2:00 p.m. Hall of Honor Day game in Flood Arena.
