Galesburg, IL -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team had things in hand until the final minutes as they fell at Knox College 65-56 on Friday night.

The Prairie Fire jumped out of the gate and led by as many as seven in the opening nine minutes following a 12-4 run.  But the Buccaneers fought back with a 6-0 spurt to cut the deficit to one at the 8:46 mark, 17-16.  KC again pushed their lead back out to six but another 6-0 Beloit run tied it at 27-all 3:04 before the break.  Knox scored the next five points but jumpers by Diana Sopkowicz and Amanda Moore cut it back to one at the break, 32-31.

The Prairie Fire got back up by five three minutes into the second half before a 19-9, eight-minute run by the Buccaneers put them up 50-45 with 9:03 left.  They held their lead until KC tied it at 54-54 with 3:44 remaining.  Knox then closed the game on an 11-2 run to win going away.

Sopkowicz led Beloit with 12 points while Sarah Stariha had ten.  Kirtsin Acosta grabbed a team and career-high nine rebounds to go with seven points.  Moore had eight rebounds along with nine points.

The Buccaneers look to snap their slide on Saturday afternoon, again on the road, as they travel to Lake Forest College.  Tipoff is at 3:00 p.m.
