Appleton, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team got in the "W" column in Midwest Conference play on Saturday afternoon for the first time this season with a 58-50 win at Lawrence University.
Lawrence scored the first five points of the game before the Bucs got going with an 8-0 run, paced by back-to-back three-pointers from Kandace Fox. But LU came back and put together a 13-4 run to take a 20-16 lead with 5:07 left in the half.
Beloit trailed 20-19 with 4:49 left before out-scoring the Vikings 10-3 to close the half and head to the lockerroom with a 29-23 advantage.
The Buccaneers kept up the pressure in the second half, building their biggest lead of the game at 51-34 with 8:03 remaining following an 18-4 run over an eight-minute span.
LU used a 7-0 run to cut Beloit's lead to six with 30 seconds left but that's as close as they'd get.
Lauren McNanna led the Bucs with 13 points and also handed out six assists. Amanda Moore added 12 points. Jenny Peterson, Fox and Diana Sopkowicz all had eight points.
The Buccaneers are now off until next Friday when they stay on the road at Knox College. Tipoff is at 5:00 p.m. in Galesburg, Illinois.
