Rockford, IL -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball couldn't come all the way back on Tuesday night and fell 58-56 at Rockford College.
The Bucs fell behind 10-3 in the first four minutes but used a 10-0 run over the next four minutes to take a 13-10 lead at the 12:34 mark. They continued pushing through the rest of the half and led 37-22 at the break.
The Lady Regents used a 17-2 run in the first seven minutes of the second half to tie it up at 39-all. They continued the run with nine more points to forge a 48-39 advantage at the 9:05 mark.
But Beloit responded with a 10-1 spurt to even it up again at 49-49 with 4:55 remaining. The game stayed close down the stretch with RC holding their slim lead.
Faith Jones evened it up at 55-55 with 27 seconds remaining before Rockford took the lead for good with 14 seconds left at 57-55. Lauren McNanna cut the deficit in half with a free throw with three seconds left but that was as close as the Bucs would get.
MacKenzie Hilliard led the way with 12 points on four three-pointers while McNanna added nine. Sarah Stariha and Amanda Moore both had seven.
The Buccaneers break for the Thanksgiving holiday before getting back on the court next Tuesday at Mount Mary College in Milwaukee. Tipoff is at 7:00 p.m.
