Ripon, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team knows its post-season aspirations are hanging by a thread. And they did something about it on Saturday with a 59-54 win at Ripon College.
The Buccaneers used a 12-5 run in the first half to break away from a tie game and grab a 23-16 lead with 8:24 left in the opening half. But Ripon came back and pulled to within two with 5:50 left in the half. An 11-2 run by Beloit gave them a 35-24 lead.
The Bucs grabbed its biggest lead of the game with the first basket of the second half (37-24) before RC again came back to pull within two at 38-36 at the 13:26 mark.
But a 6-0 run over the next two minutes by the Bucs built their advantage back up to eight and the Red Hawks never got closer than four.
MacKenzie Hilliard led Beloit with a career-high 18 points, includi8ng four three-pointers, while Amanda Moore added 17 with three three's and also grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds. Mary Parker added ten points, eight rebounds and eight assists.
The Buccaneers close out their regular season on Wednesday when they host Lawrence University at Flood Arena. Tipoff is at 5:30 p.m.
