Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball was looking for a win. And a second half run was just the ticket on the way to a 68-57 come-from-behind victory over Knox College in Flood Arena on Friday night.
Knox took control of the game late in the opening half with a 9-2, four-minute run that turned a 16-all tie into a 27-18 KC advantage with 1:23 left in the half. They led 29-23 at the break.
The Prairie Fire maintained their lead through much of the second half as the Buccaneers chipped away. Beloit finally took the lead for the first time since early in the contest on a jumper by MacKenzie Hilliard with 10:26 left, 43-42.
The game stayed close from that point until, with 5:03 left and the score tied for the 12th time at 55-55, the Bucs took off on a decisive 13-2 run to close out the contest.
Hilliard led four Buccaneers in double figures with a career-high 17. Sarah Stariha had 15 pointsa and Faith Jones 11. Mary Parker came oh-so-close to a triple-double with 16 points, nine rebounds and nine assists. She also added five steals.
Beloit turns right around on Saturday with a home game against Grinnell College. Tipoff in The Flood is at 1:00 p.m.
